Customer Service/Ground Handling

Piedmont customer service and ramp agents are known throughout the industry for safe, reliable service. Our agents may be a passenger’s first contact with the airline, and must exceed customer expectations at all times. Agents represent the American Airlines brand with knowledge, compassion and class.

Primary responsibilities for a customer service agent include computerized passenger check-in and boarding, assisting customers with special needs and changing customer flight itineraries and seat assignments as necessary.

Primary responsibilities for a Ramp Agent include loading/unloading bags on to/off of aircraft, operating motorized service vehicles on the ramp and servicing aircraft.


  • 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent. Must be authorized to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license, have no record of a DUI within the last five years and/or no more than 5 moving violations within the last 3 years. Applicants should have no speeding violations in excess of 19 mph over speed limit, no reckless driving similar offenses during last 3 years.
  • Must pass all pre-employment background screening including: education verification, drug test, DMV license check and a ten year criminal history records check. Applicants should not have a guilty charge for the following: drugs, weapons, assault, theft and no open or pending cases, regardless of charge.
  • Applicants must be available to work all shifts, days, and mandatory overtime when necessary.
  • Must be willing and able to work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to lift 70 pounds.
  • A professional well-groomed appearance is required. 
  • Applicants must successfully complete comprehensive training courses.
