SALISBURY, Maryland – Piedmont Airlines, a wholly owned subsidiary of American Airlines Group Inc., is announcing a partnership with Liberty University’s School of Aeronautics in Lynchburg, Virginia. The cadet program partnership provides prospective pilots at Liberty University with a guaranteed career path to American Airlines.
Piedmont Airlines will offer tuition reimbursement and conditional employment to select Liberty University Certified Flight Instructors (CFIs). Once a CFI reaches the required Airline Transport Pilot certificate, he or she will join Piedmont as a first officer. Piedmont pilots are guaranteed a job at American Airlines.
“With the expansion of our jet fleet and the growth Piedmont will see in the next few years, it is essential to have partnerships that can provide us with the best aviators in the industry,” said Lyle Hogg, president/CEO. “Through this partnership Piedmont will identify the best talent in the country and students at Liberty will gain great experience, as well as financial assistance.”
The program provides a bonus for every 100 hours of flight time until CFIs reach the required ATP minimums. After a Certified Flight Instructor reaches ATP minimums, he or she will join Piedmont as a first officer.
“We are extremely pleased to partner with Piedmont Airlines in their cadet program, and we are very happy that Piedmont recognizes the skills and values our graduates bring to the company. We focus not only on excellent pilot skills, but especially on character, professionalism and leadership development, and we know Piedmont is a company that also holds those qualities in high regard. We look forward to working together to grow the next generation of airline pilots,” said Jim Molloy, Dean, Liberty University School of Aeronautics.
