SALISBURY, Maryland - Piedmont Airlines, a wholly owned subsidiary of the American Airlines Group Inc., announces a cadet program partnership with California Baptist University. The program includes tuition reimbursements, conditional employment and a direct path to American Airlines.
Once a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) reaches the required ATP minimums, he or she will join Piedmont as a first officer, and eventually transition to American Airlines.
“We are excited to have California Baptist University partner with our cadet program,” said Lyle Hogg, Piedmont president. “This program is an investment in our cadets because we want the very best men and women flying for Piedmont. The cadet program allows us to mentor these individuals early on so they will not only be exceptional pilots at Piedmont, but also at American Airlines.”
Selected pilots will receive a bonus for every 100 hours of flight time until they reach the required ATP minimums and receive a $5,000 bonus when they transition to Piedmont. An interview with Piedmont’s recruiting team and 500 hours of flight time is required for a CFI to be eligible.
“Partnering with Piedmont Airlines will allow our students a tremendous opportunity to obtain a conditional first officer job offer, even before graduation,” said Dr. Daniel Prather, chair of the department of aviation science. “I applaud Piedmont for also making tuition reimbursement available to our students. With flight training costs comprising a significant portion of their educational expense, being provided a degree of tuition reimbursement is welcomed by these students. This partnership provides further credibility to our programs and enhances the career pathways for students.”
