SALISBURY, Maryland – Piedmont Airlines, a wholly owned subsidiary of American Airlines Group Inc., announces an industry-leading cadet program partnership with California Aeronautical University, a world-class aeronautical training center that provides aviation degree programs in Southern California.
Once a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) reaches ATP minimums, he or she will join Piedmont as a first officer. In addition, the cadet program offers conditional employment, tuition reimbursement and a guaranteed path to American Airlines.
“Piedmont’s cadet program is exceptional because of the opportunities it allows for young pilots,” said Scott McGuigan, chief pilot for Piedmont Airlines. “Selected CFIs are not only able to gain valuable flying experience at Piedmont, but they are also guaranteed a career at American Airlines where they will be flying for the world’s largest airline.”
Selected pilots will receive a bonus for every 100 hours of flight time until they reach the required ATP minimums, as well as a signing bonus when they transition to Piedmont. To be eligible, CFIs must complete 500 hours of flight time and an interview with Piedmont’s recruiting team.
“Like California Aeronautical University, Piedmont Airlines understands the importance of making investments into future pilots, and we are excited to partner with them to create opportunities for our graduates,” said Matthew Johnston, president of California Aeronautical University. “Students invest a great deal in their aviation education, and partnerships such as this give students clear pathways to all of the career outcomes possible.”
