SALISBURY, Maryland – Piedmont Airlines, a wholly owned subsidiary of American Airlines Group Inc., is announcing an industry-leading cadet program partnership with the University of Dubuque in Iowa. The cadet program offers University of Dubuque aviation students tuition reimbursement, conditional employment and a guaranteed path to American Airlines.
“We are thrilled to have the University of Dubuque partner with us,” said Scott McGuigan, chief pilot for Piedmont Airlines. “Selected Certified Flight Instructors (CFIs) will gain valuable experience and career stability. When a CFI reaches ATP minimums, he or she will come to Piedmont as a first officer and eventually flow to American Airlines.”
The program provides a bonus for every 100 hours of flight time until CFIs reach the required ATP minimums. After a Certified Flight Instructor reaches ATP minimums, he or she will join Piedmont as a first officer.
“Anytime a quality company steps in to help offset the high expense of flight training, that should be considered an awesome event,” said Steven Accinelli, Director of Flight Programs. “Helping students realize their dreams and potential is commendable.”
