SALISBURY, Maryland- Piedmont Airlines, a wholly owned subsidiary of American Airlines Group Inc., is announcing a cadet program partnership with Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. Piedmont’s industry-leading cadet program offers prospective pilots at Ohio State University with a guaranteed career path to American Airlines.
Piedmont Airlines will offer tuition reimbursement and conditional employment to select Ohio State University Certified Flight Instructors (CFIs). Once a CFI reaches the required Airline Transport Pilot certificate, he or she will join Piedmont as a first officer and be on a direct path to American Airlines.
“It is an exciting time at Piedmont as we continue to grow our cadet program and provide opportunities for aspiring commercial pilots,” said Steve Keefer, vice president of Flight Operations. “The program allows Piedmont to pick some of the best aviation talent, while also providing Ohio State aviation students with financial benefits.”
The cadet program provides a bonus for every 100 hours of flight time until CFIs reach the required ATP minimums. After a Certified Flight Instructor reaches ATP minimums, he or she will join Piedmont as a first officer.
“The Piedmont cadet program provides current and future Buckeye aviators the opportunity to follow a defined path from their college classroom to a rewarding pilot career,” said Martin Rottler, Industry Relations Coordinator. “With flow to American Airlines, mentorship from existing pilots and financial incentives for cadets, this program will directly benefit our students as they progress through their flight training and building of experience to prepare for life as a professional pilot.”
