Piedmont Airlines’ ground handling team has formally ratified a new five-year labor deal. The contract includes an increase in pay and better work rules for 6000 team members in 80 locations across the country.

“This agreement allows us to take care of our team members so they can better serve the customers of American Airlines,” said Lyle Hogg, CEO and President of Piedmont Airlines. “I want to thank the CWA and the Piedmont negotiating team for the time and effort that went into crafting this contract.”

Negotiating teams reached a tentative agreement in September. Voting closed on Friday, and the contract was signed over the weekend. New wage scales, including an immediate increase for all ground handling team members went into effect on November 4.

Piedmont, a wholly owned subsidiary of American Airlines, provides customer service to more than one million passengers a year at Philadelphia International Airport and Charlotte Douglas International Airport, ground handling more than 570 regional flights each day in those important American hubs. Piedmont employees also serve American Airlines customers at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, Phoenix’s Sky Harbor International Airport and smaller airports from Anchorage, Alaska to Salisbury, Maryland.
