As part of Piedmont's commitment to support the trade work force and promote career opportunities in aircraft maintenance, Piedmont Airlines is proud to announce our sponsorship of the  mikeroweWorks Foundation 2020 Work Ethic Scholarship.

Today, the skills gap is wider than it's ever been. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are more than seven million jobs available across the country, the majority of which don't require a four-year degree. In aviation alone, 569,000 new team members will be needed to fill the demand for talent by 2037.

On a mission to help close the skills gap, the mikeroweWorks Foundation is challenging stigmas and stereotypes that discourage people from pursuing millions of available jobs. Every year, the Work Ethic Scholarship Program recognizes the next generation of skilled workers and encourages people to learn useful skills in the world of trade.

"Our sponsorship of the Work Ethic Scholarship is just another example of or investment into the future of aircraft mechanics," said Kevin Dallaire, Piedmont Recruiting Manager. "We work hard to bring awareness to the aircraft maintenance technician (AMT) trade along with reducing the barriers to entry, specifically the financial burdens like purchasing tools and student loan debt."

To date, the Work Ethic Scholarship Program has granted, or helped facilitate the granting of, more than $5 million in Work Ethic Scholarships and other like-minded programs.

Piedmont is proud to partner with an organization that encourages the education and support of the trade professions, specifically the profession of aircraft maintenance. "Often the unsung heroes, AMTs are the backbone of our airline, keeping our fleet of aircraft safe and ready to fly every day. Being that the very nature of their jobs require them to be behind the scenes, the job and opportunities are mostly unthought-of to the general public, and we are working hard to change that." says Dallaire.

Applications are currently being accepted. The deadline to apply is March 31st, 2020.
