(Salisbury, MD) - Piedmont Airlines, a wholly owned subsidiary of American Airlines, received its first Embraer 145 on October 5. The regional jet is one of 20 that will be operated by Piedmont out of Philadelphia starting in 2016.
Piedmont president Lyle Hogg tells a compelling story about the day he was hired as a pilot for US Airways. Hogg flew for a regional airline in 1984, but was looking to land at a mainline company. Returning home late one afternoon, he learned that US Airways was trying to reach him.

SALISBURY, Maryland – Piedmont Airlines today announced that Lyle Hogg, previously vice president – flight operations for US Airways, will serve as president of the airline. In this position, Hogg will report to Piedmont chief executive officer Steve Farrow, who previously held both the CEO and president titles. Farrow plans to retire from Piedmont in early 2016, and today's announcement is part of Farrow's leadership succession plan for the regional carrier.
