Pilots can secure their future with Piedmont Airlines and earn more than $180,000 in bonuses

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: August 25, 2021

SALISBURY, Maryland- Pilots who choose to join Piedmont Airlines’ exceptional aviation team can earn over $180,000 in bonuses as part of an unprecedented recruitment and retention package. With a tentative agreement between Piedmont Airlines and ALPA leadership, today’s announcement offers pilots increased stability in an industry rocked by uncertainty over the past 18 months.

“Piedmont is making an enormous investment in our business and our pilot group,” said Piedmont CEO Eric Morgan. “This is an important step in building a post pandemic, sustainable airline that can thrive well into the future.”

“Piedmont pilots have delivered excellent performance throughout the pandemic, consistently leading all other regionals in the American Airlines regional partner portfolio,” said Steve Keefer, Vice President of Flight Operations. “Their service to Piedmont and our customers in this difficult time has allowed us to maintain our flying and step up to fly additional routes when travel demand increased. We are proud to watch them continue their careers at American as we welcome a new group of pilots to Piedmont to begin their journey.”

Thanks to creative collaboration between the Air Line Pilot Association (ALPA) and company leaders, Piedmont was one of the few airlines that did not furlough pilots during the COVID-19 crisis and in fact, was tapped by American to expand flying into new markets, including Chicago.  Piedmont continues to be a top-rated airline on performance, reliability and likely to recommend.

Piedmont plans to announce an updated cadet program for pilots and is testing an aircraft maintenance training program for aspiring mechanics. “The key to building a sustainable airline is securing our skilled workforce, creating policies that will help our team members navigate the pandemic and accepting that our new reality is much different in a post-COVID world,” added Morgan.

“Piedmont’s secret weapon has always been the ability to adapt and move forward, and that’s what we’re doing.”
