Gate Agent and Changemaker: How Tiffany Vargas brings her whole self to Piedmont

Tiffany Vargas at Americas United States.

Tiffany Vargas, a customer service gate agent in Charlotte (CLT), will never forget January 7, 2025. That was the day she earned the title of Miss Texas America’s United States. “It was honestly an incredible rush of joy and pride. Finally achieving this dream, and knowing I can make a difference every day, fills me with happiness that will never fade.”

At Piedmont, every team member brings their own story. Their different identities and experiences help us grow stronger as a company. For Tiffany, her life as a gate agent, a pageant winner, and a proud Latina all come together to create positive change both at work and in her community.

Tiffany’s love for aviation started young. Her mom has worked as a gate agent for over eight years, and Tiffany has been flying since she was 15. “I’ve been flying since I was 15 and fell in love with traveling,” she shares. That love led her to a role at Piedmont, where she welcomes passengers with a big smile and a true desire to help.

Outside of the airport, Tiffany holds another influential title. As Miss Texas America’s United States, she’s using her voice to make a real impact. “My goal as Miss Texas is to bring awareness of global homelessness and mental health,” she explains. She works with the “One Seed, Plants Roots” campaign through the Americas United States organization, supporting important causes like veterans’ charities, PTSD programs for children, and scholarships such as “Max’s Tank Tribute.”

Her experience as Miss Texas also helps her do her job better. “I developed excellent communication skills, confidence, and the ability to stay composed under pressure. These qualities help me provide outstanding customer service every day.”

Tiffany is also a proud member of Piedmont’s Latin Diversity Network Employee Resource Group. “Being part of this network allows me to support diversity, empower others, and help create an inclusive environment where Latin voices are heard and valued every day.”

Tiffany dedicates her time to assembling and distributing care packages for individuals experiencing homelessness. Twice a month, she partners with her mom’s church to carry out this meaningful work, offering essentials and compassion to those in need.

With roots in the Dominican Republic and El Salvador, Tiffany’s cultural background is a big part of who she is. “My multicultural upbringing helps me communicate effectively, show empathy, and create a welcoming environment for all travelers,” she says.

She’s not slowing down anytime soon. This summer, she’s helping organize a Sleepout event to raise awareness and support for people experiencing homelessness. “It’s an opportunity for participants to sleep outside and better understand the experience of those without a home,” she explains.

Tiffany’s story reminds us that our team members are more than just their uniforms or job titles. They’re leaders, advocates, and community builders. Her journey shows how one person’s passion can spark change, inspire others, and make our mission stronger every day.
