Pay and bonus breakdown

Piedmont Cadet

Build time when you want, where you want. Sign on as a Piedmont Cadet, receive a $30,000 bonus and board the fastest path to American Airlines, no further interview. Enjoy industry perks and receive Piedmont support as your hours, training and experience grows..

Once Cadets complete the ATP-CTP course and exam, they are placed into the next available new hire class at Piedmont, with no additional interview required.

Pilots who complete the Cadet Program are eligible for the following bonuses:

  • $30,000 Cadet program bonus
  • $15,000 after 12 months of active pilot service
  • $30,000 upon upgrade to Piedmont Captain and a commitment to flow
  • $40,000 one year after Captain upgrade
  • $40,000 two years after Captain upgrade
  • $25,000 at flow to American

New Hire First Officer

Fly on the East Coast for American’s premier regional airline. Pilots train at the American Airlines Training Center, build time quickly and upgrade to Captain in 18 to 24 months. Position your career, your life, in the center of it all.

Pay for First Officers:

  • $90 year one
  • $97.50 year two
  • $105 year three
  • $108.75 year four

Bonuses for new hire pilots:

  • $15,000 sign-on bonus
  • $15,000 after 12 months of active service
  • $30,000 upon completion of Captain upgrade and a commitment to flow
  • $40,000 one year after Captain upgrade
  • $40,000 two years after Captain upgrade
  • $25,000 at flow to American

And more for those who qualify:

  • $10,000 bonus for those with 600 hours of 121/135 experience
  • $7,500 type rating bonus for pilots qualified on the Embraer 145

Direct Entry Captain

Your stripes earn you more – join Piedmont as a Direct Entry Captain and bring your longevity with you. Enjoy the left seat  and maximize your career earnings. Next stop: American Airlines.

Pay for Captains

  • $146.25 year one
  • $150 year two
  • $153.75 year three
  • $157.50 year four
  • $161.25 year five
  • $213.75 top of scale

Captains flow to mainline after 5 years of service or be paid top of scale until they flow. Direct entry captains can bring their longevity and start on steps 2 through 11 .

Bonuses available for new hire experienced Captains:

  • $15,000 Direct Entry Captain bonus
  • $15,000 sign-on bonus
  • $15,000 after 12 months of active service
  • $30,000 upon completion of  Captain upgrade and a commitment to flow
  • $40,000 one year after Captain upgrade
  • $40,000 two years after Captain upgrade
  • $25,000 at flow to American

Additionally, a $7,500 type rating bonus is available for those who qualify.
