Piedmont Supports Women in Aviation International

As we reflect on Women’s History Month, Piedmont was proud to be a sponsor of the Women in Aviation International’s (WAI) 35th annual conference, which hosted more than 5,200 attendees, boasted an exhibit hall with more than 200 companies and organizations, and distributed 131 scholarships.

Female aviators from all over the world spent three days connecting to and learning from each other: pilots, aircraft maintenance technicians, flight attendants, ground handling agents, leaders, supporters, students and more filled the conference halls.

Between education sessions and workshops throughout the conference, attendees explored the sold-out exhibit hall to meet hundreds of companies and organizations and discover countless career opportunities. The sense of excited energy from the attendees lit up the exhibit hall from the first day.   The passion in the room and the commitment demonstrated by attendees, to empower each other to break boundaries and push the aviation industry further, was evident throughout the conversations that were had and the experiences that were shared.

Education sessions were featured throughout the conference and covered a variety of topics, from pathways to enter and grow in the industry, to mentoring and leadership, to mental and financial health. Women in Aviation International also hosted yoga and Zumba classes and a meditation workshop.

Piedmont Airlines was a proud sponsor of WAI’s International Reception. Women from international Women in Aviation chapters all over the world gathered to connect, celebrate their achievements, and cheer each other on. They shared their journeys, their goals, and their visions for the future of the aviation industry.

Additionally, Piedmont sponsored two conference scholarships to support aspiring aviators as they start their journey to discover their future career. One Piedmont-sponsored scholarship was awarded to an aspiring pilot, the other to a future aviation maintenance technician.

On the final day of the three-day conference, Women in Aviation International sponsored Girls in Aviation Day. Aspiring young female aviators filled the exhibit hall to discover inspiration for their future. They stopped by booth after booth and gathered goodies from each airline.
