Piedmont Airlines Invests in Future Dispatchers with Paid Training Program

IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Tuesday, March 4, 2025
Salisbury, Maryland – Piedmont Airlines is offering a paid specialized training opportunity for individuals with a strong interest in aviation operations. We’re seeking motivated individuals to join our Dispatcher Trainee Program this spring, held at our Salisbury, Maryland headquarters.
Piedmont Dispatchers are at the center of our flight operations: planning routes, monitoring weather, and communicating with our pilots to make critical decisions that ensure safe and efficient flights.
“Following the success of our initial Dispatcher Trainee Program classes, we’re excited to offer a spring class in Salisbury,” shares Jason Culver, Director of Piedmont Flights Operations Control. “This program represents Piedmont’s commitment to developing local talent, offering paid training and a guaranteed career path for successful graduates.”
Jeppesen Academy will conduct the Dispatch certification course, with Piedmont covering all training and testing costs, while also paying students an hourly rate of $23.93, the starting dispatcher pay, for the duration of the class. The class is six weeks and trainees will test for their dispatch certificate at the end of training. Once a Dispatch certificate is achieved, trainees will become full-time Piedmont Dispatchers and move forward to Piedmont’s ground school along with on-the-job training provided.
“Piedmont is a regional carrier for the world’s largest airline and their headquarters is a short drive from where I live,” says Piedmont Dispatch Supervisor Travis Jones. “Working as a dispatcher at Piedmont’s Operational Control Center meant I wouldn’t have to relocate to a big city to work in commercial aviation and there would be opportunities for further career advancement within the company.”
Our goal is to grow and develop local talent, the Dispatcher Trainee program is open to all internal and external applicants in the Salisbury region. No experience is required, applicants must be 23 years of age and successfully pass a drug and alcohol test and background check.
Anyone interested in the program is invited to attend a meet and greet on Saturday, March 15 between 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at Piedmont’s headquarters located at 5443 Airport Terminal Road in Salisbury. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with Piedmont Dispatchers, take a brief tour of the Operational Control Center, and submit their application with a recruiter.
